NO GREE FOR ANYBODY’ intends to cause anarchy: POLICE

Police Issue Warning on 2024 Trend ‘No Gree for Anybody,’ Deeming it a Potential Catalyst for Anarchy
In a press conference held on Wednesday, the Nigeria Police Force sounded an alarm over the 2024 youth-driven slogan “No gree for anybody,” cautioning that it harbors the potential to incite revolutionary unrest, leading to widespread chaos across the nation.
During the briefing, Force police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi conveyed the gravity of the situation based on intelligence reports. He stated, “Let me reiterate that the new 2024 slogan, ‘No gree for anybody,’ has been identified by our intelligence as emanating from a revolutionary faction with the potential to ignite issues nationwide.”
Adejobi emphasized the deceptive nature of the seemingly innocuous pidgin phrase, “No gree for anybody,” highlighting its interpretation within the security community as a highly perilous slogan capable of triggering a crisis.
The slogan, which loosely translates to stubbornness or defiance, has gained significant traction on social media platforms, attracting participation from a wide spectrum of young Nigerians, including celebrities and brands. However, the police underscored the need to recognize the inherent danger beneath its seemingly casual usage.
Over the years, Nigeria’s social media landscape has witnessed the emergence of various trendy slogans, often inspired by musical, social, economic, and political developments. “No gree for anybody” now joins the ranks of past slogans like “Cut soap for me” and “shege,” reflecting the dynamic nature of youth-driven expressions in the country.
