Borno Government Assures Swift Resolution to Blackout Crisis

In response to a recent blackout affecting parts of Borno State, the government urges residents to stay calm, promising a speedy restoration of power.

The outage, initiated by the vandalization of TCN’s tower T372 near Katsaita Village in Yobe State on December 21st, 2023, has left various areas without electricity.

Aliyu Mohammed Bamanga, the State Commissioner of Transport and Energy, assured the public in a statement on Saturday that the government has mobilized efforts to rectify the situation. He highlighted the activation of the Maiduguri Emergency Backup system, which has already restored power to certain sections of the city.

Governor Zulum, through Commissioner Bamanga, expressed deep concern for the citizens affected by the power outage. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving the issue promptly, Governor Zulum acknowledged the hardships faced by the people and pledged continuous support to expedite the restoration of power to all affected areas.

The commissioner extended gratitude to various stakeholders, including the federal government, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), for their collaboration in addressing the crisis.
