Governor Zulum Explores Niji Group’s Agricultural Innovations in Ibadan
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, embarked on a visit to the operational base of Niji Group of Companies in Ibadan, Oyo State. 
Niji Group, a conglomerate with a three-decade track record in supporting Africa’s agriculture sector, hosted Governor Zulum as he explored avenues to bolster sustainable agricultural practices for local farmers affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno.
Managed by Farmer Kolawole Adeniji, Niji Group engages in diverse agricultural operations, including Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing, Farming, Food Processing, Agribusiness Education, Farm Mechanization, and Hospitality. Governor Zulum commended the group’s contributions to commercial agriculture and food security.
During the tour, Zulum underscored the significance of technology in boosting agricultural productivity and efficiency. He advocated for increased public-private partnerships to drive agricultural innovation across Nigeria, emphasizing the necessity of investing in agricultural research and development.
Addressing challenges faced by farmers, Zulum highlighted the importance of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and tackling issues like pests, diseases, climate change, and market access. The governor pledged support for initiatives strengthening the agricultural research ecosystem in Borno.
Accompanying Governor Zulum on the visit were officials including the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Adeleke Lawal, and representatives from the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers. The entourage explored opportunities for collaboration and innovation to empower local farmers and revitalize the agricultural landscape in Borno State.
