Taraba State Seeks USADF Partnership

In a recent development, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, has reached out to the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) to foster collaboration in addressing key issues related to poverty reduction in the state. 

During a meeting with Mr. Andrew Echono, the Country Programme Coordinator of USADF in Nigeria, held in Abuja, Governor Kefas conveyed his confidence in the USADF’s effective solutions to combat poverty, emphasizing their practicality and achievability.

Governor Kefas pledged Taraba State’s commitment to partnering with USADF to unlock opportunities for growth and development within the region. He specifically highlighted the importance of infrastructure improvement and the advancement of women and youth development as crucial aspects of their collaboration, underlining his personal involvement in overseeing the implementation of USADF programs to ensure maximum benefits for the state.

Mr. Andrew Echono, the Programme Coordinator of USADF in Nigeria, shed light on the foundation’s role in funding projects across various sectors, including agriculture, energy, and women and youth empowerment, among others. USADF provides grants to support small-scale farmers in constructing essential infrastructure in rural communities, ultimately stimulating local economies and job creation.

Furthermore, Mr. Echono informed Governor Kefas that USADF has established agreements with multiple states and is actively pursuing various projects by offering matching grants for initiatives in rural areas following the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs). He expressed the foundation’s willingness to formalize such an agreement with the Taraba State Government, solidifying their shared commitment to combat poverty and drive sustainable development in the region.
