Tinubu Appoints 400-Level Student to Tax Reforms Committee

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Olamide Obagbemileke, a 400-level student hailing from the Department of Economics at Kwara State University (KWASU), as a research assistant and analyst within the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

This development was officially disclosed by the university through a tweet

The tweet highlights the letter of appointment that reached Miss Obagbemileke, bearing the signature of Bomate Ogaree-Lawson, the Policy and Research Analyst and Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

Notably, this appointment marks the second instance of an undergraduate joining the presidential committee since its inauguration. During her tenure, which spans three months, Obagbemileke is set to fulfill the role of the committee’s student ambassador.

It is essential to recall that President Bola Tinubu formally inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms on August 8, at the presidential villa in Abuja. The committee is under the leadership of Chairman Taiwo Oyedele, and it notably includes Orire Agbaje, another 400-level economics student, this time from the University of Ibadan.

The committee’s primary mission revolves around an exhaustive review of Nigeria’s fiscal and tax policies and the formulation of recommendations for substantial reforms. The anticipated timeline for this significant undertaking is six months, at which point the committee will present its comprehensive report to the president.
