In a move to bolster the administrative and operational capabilities of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has given the green light for the construction of a cutting-edge headquarters facility at Obienu Barracks in Bauchi.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s commitment to fortifying the combat readiness and overall welfare of Nigerian Army troops is evident through his approval of a purpose-built headquarters for the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps. This marks a significant milestone in the Corps’ efforts to modernize its facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this project took place on October 13, 2023, with Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s enthusiastic endorsement. Major General Mohammed Sani Ahmed, Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, lauded the Chief of Army Staff for his vision and generosity in approving this much-needed initiative, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the morale of Corps officers and soldiers.

Architect Abubakar Dauda, the project engineer from MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD, has pledged to complete the construction within a swift six-month timeline, ensuring precision and the use of top-tier building materials, aligning with global standards. Architect Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Army Headquarters for promptly disbursing the necessary funds.

The ceremony saw the presence of key figures, including Brigadier General AGL Haruna, Chief of Staff at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, and Lieutenant Colonel LJ Asuquo, Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, along with representatives from MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD.

This initiative signifies a pivotal advancement in the ongoing drive to modernize the infrastructure and resources available to the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, ultimately enhancing their operational capabilities and effectiveness.
