Tax Reform: Presidential Committee Calls for Public Input

Presidential Committee Calls for Public Input on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms

The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has initiated a call for public memoranda aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s fiscal policies and tax system.
This appeal is part of a comprehensive effort to address the nation’s fiscal challenges and build a more robust economic framework.
In a release signed by the Chairman, Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee Taiwo Oyedele says  the committee is actively seeking input from the public on a variety of topics aligned with its terms of reference, which encompass the following key areas:
1. Fiscal Governance: This segment focuses on issues pertaining to public financial management, government spending priorities, debt management, and economic policy coordination.
2. Revenue Transformation: The committee is keen to receive feedback on revenue administration, taxation structure, incentives management, and strategies for mobilizing non-tax revenue.
3. Economic Growth Facilitation: The public is encouraged to provide insights on promoting business ease, tackling trade obstacles, and supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The public’s input is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policies that drive economic growth, foster an equitable taxation system, enhance accountability, and ensure the sustainability of Nigeria’s fiscal system.
