Plateau State Governor Seeks Collaboration with Nigeria Customs to Address Security Issues

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has made a formal request for the assistance and cooperation of the Nigerian Customs Service in addressing the prevailing security challenges within the state.

The plea was extended during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Customs Service in Abuja, where Governor Mutfwang engaged with the Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.This visit is part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to establish partnerships with various Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Governor Mutfwang expressed his appreciation for the opportunities the Customs Service has afforded the citizens of Plateau State to contribute to the country’s development. He also highlighted the significant roles played by Plateau State in the service, citing luminaries such as former Comptroller General Da. Jacob Gyang Buba and the Gbong Gwom Jos.

“We hold in high regard our relationship with the Customs Service, recognizing the substantial contributions made by Plateau State. Our aim is to foster collaboration and cooperation, furthering the development of both our state and our nation,” stated Governor Mutfwang.

While acknowledging the relative peace now experienced in Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang noted that the state had faced a series of attacks, resulting in the displacement of numerous households. He appealed to the Customs Service for assistance in alleviating the plight of these victims, many of whom are currently residing in various Internally Displaced Persons camps.

In response, Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi expressed gratitude for the visit and assured the governor of the Customs Service’s commitment to collaborating with Plateau State to promote peace and unity. He also proposed the use of successful individuals as role models to inspire the younger generation, a measure to combat restiveness.
