In Memoriam: Pastor Taiwo Odukoya Laid to Rest

The somber atmosphere at the Fountain of Life Church headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos State, was palpable as friends, family, and well-wishers gathered to bid their final farewell to the revered Senior Pastor, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.

His passing on August 7, 2023, in the United States at the age of 67 had left a void in the hearts of many
At the funeral service, Bishop David Abioye, a prominent figure in the Christian community, delivered a moving sermon that extolled the enduring legacies of Pastor Taiwo. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the congregation for the loss of their beloved cleric and emphasized the profound impact one’s life can have on others.
Bishop Abioye reminded those in attendance of life’s fleeting nature and urged them to make the most of their time on Earth. He posed the thought-provoking question, “How are you living?” as a reminder of the significance of one’s actions and contributions.
The service was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Dolapo Osinbajo, the wife of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Bishop Mike Okonkwo of TEEM; Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo of the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC); and Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock. A delegation from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was also present, along with other notable figures such as Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Rev. Sam Adeyemi, and Peterson Okopi, all paying their respects to the late pastor.
Following the moving service, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya was laid to rest at the Ikoyi Cemetery, where he now rests beside his first wife, Bimbo, who tragically perished in the Sosoliso plane crash in 2005.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya was more than a religious leader; he was a respected figure in the Nigerian Christian community and a successful businessman and philanthropist. His passing has left an indelible mark on both the church and the nation, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya is survived by six children, including the renowned Nollywood star, Jimmy Odukoya, who will undoubtedly carry forward his father’s legacy of faith, compassion, and leadership.
