SERAP SUES GODSWILL AKPABIO

SERAP Follows Through on Vow, Sues Senate President and House Speaker
Social-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken decisive legal action, filing a lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The suit challenges the alleged “unlawful plan” to allocate billions of naira for the procurement of luxury and bulletproof vehicles, while also highlighting the proposal to provide ‘palliatives’ for new members.
The announcement was made by SERAP on its official Twitter handle, as it declared, “BREAKING: We’ve sued the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of House of Reps, Tajudeen Abbas over the unlawful plan to spend N110 billion to buy exotic and bulletproof cars for lawmakers, and to provide ‘palliatives’ for new members.”
This legal action follows SERAP’s recent pledge to sue the Senate President, which was initially prompted by concerns surrounding the allocation of funds (Holiday Allowances) to lawmakers amid economic difficulties faced by the general populace.
Akpabio, who has faced backlash for his statements and disclosures regarding financial matters concerning senators’ pay, is now at the center of a legal battle driven by SERAP’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency.
As the nation engages in a broader discourse on transparency, governance, and economic fairness, the unfolding developments continue to draw the attention of the public. Eventville, as a keen observer, remains dedicated to keeping the public informed about the evolving situation.
The legal move by SERAP reflects a growing demand for responsible and equitable allocation of resources, emphasizing the significance of upholding the interests of ordinary Nigerians amidst economic challenges.
The outcome of this legal action is anticipated to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on governance and socio-economic equity.
