Bayelsa polls: PDP Youth killed by Thugs at INEC Collation Center

George Sibo, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, met a tragic end at the INEC collation center in Twon-Brass, Brass Local Government Area.

The victim, known as Kobo-Kobo, served as an aide to the local government chairman, Hanson Alabo-Karika.

Reports indicate that chaos ensued when thugs stormed the collation center on Sunday, leading to the untimely demise of the Twon-Brass native, who leaves behind a grieving family.

Eyewitnesses present during the incident conveyed that Kobo-Kobo fell victim to the violence as results for specific wards in the constituency were being submitted. The brutality of the attack has sent shockwaves through the community, as residents grapple with the loss of a married man with children.

In response to this heinous act, Daniel Charles, the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency I, expressed deep sorrow over the brutal murder. Charles characterized the deceased as a vibrant and industrious young man, attributing his death to the actions of power-hungry individuals desperate for control.

The legislator urgently called upon security agencies to apprehend and swiftly prosecute those responsible for this appalling crime, emphasizing the need for justice to prevail in the face of such senseless violence.

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by political thuggery during election processes, highlighting the imperative for enhanced security measures to safeguard the democratic principles of the nation.
