EFCC Cracks Down on 48 Internet Fraudsters in Delta State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 48 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Asaba, Delta State.

The operation, led by the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC, took place on Friday, October 6, 2023, and aimed to curb cybercriminal activities in the region.

The suspects, whose identities have been disclosed, are:

These suspects were taken into custody following intelligence reports that pointed to their involvement in online scams.

During the arrests carried out at various locations in Asaba, law enforcement agents seized a significant amount of evidence. Among the confiscated items were nine high-end vehicles, including three Mercedes Benz GLK 350s, two Lexus RX 350s, and a Mercedes Benz GLA 250 4Matic. Additionally, authorities recovered a cache of mobile phones and laptops believed to have been used in fraudulent activities.

The suspects are currently in custody and have provided statements regarding their alleged involvement in internet fraud. The EFCC has stated that once investigations are completed, the individuals will be brought before the courts to face appropriate charges.
