Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has issued his response to the recent ruling by the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Sani sees the judgment as a resounding confirmation of the mandate bestowed upon him by the people.
However, there is confusion surrounding the tribunal’s decision. While some reports suggest that the court upheld Sani’s election, dismissing the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Isa Ashiru, other accounts claim the tribunal declared the election inconclusive and removed the governor from office.
Nonetheless, Sani expressed his joy at the verdict, lauding the tribunal’s thoroughness and clarity. He also commended his opponent, Isah Ashiru Kudan, for seeking recourse through legal means.
Sani called for unity among political actors in the state to address the challenges facing Kaduna.
The tribunal had ordered fresh elections in specific wards and local government areas after a petition by the PDP and Isa Ashiru.
