Protests Erupt as Youths Demand Justice for Late Singer Mohbad

In a show of solidarity and a call for justice, young people gathered on Tuesday morning in Abeokuta, and  Ogun State, to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The gathering, held in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, saw a sizable crowd of youths clad in black attire, bearing placards emblazoned with messages such as #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight, among others.
Similar demonstrations occurred in other regions, including Delta State, where passionate Mohbad fans took to Effurun Road, brandishing placards and echoing the call for justice in honor of the late singer.
These peaceful protests follow a recent demonstration held in Ikorodu, Lagos, where concerned individuals voiced their demands for justice in Mohbad’s case.
The untimely death of Mohbad, which occurred last Tuesday, raised questions and suspicions, with some individuals pointing fingers at Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Records and a fellow musician.
Prominent figures in the music industry have also joined the call for justice, expressing their concerns through social media platforms.
In response to these developments, the Lagos State Police Command has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise. This commitment led to the formation of a special investigation team on Monday.
Furthermore, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has instructed the state Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Service (DSS), to launch a comprehensive inquiry into the singer’s death, with a strong emphasis on ensuring justice is served.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his condolences to the grieving family, friends, fans, and residents affected by the loss of the young music sensation.
“The Lagos State Government has noted the developments that have followed the death of music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (aka MohBad). The Government commiserates with his family and fans. We feel the pains of losing such a talented and promising young man, who made a name for himself in a highly competitive industry,” the statement reads.
In accordance with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s directive, the Lagos State Police have initiated an extensive investigation through a 19-member panel to uncover the truth behind the musician’s tragic passing.
