LASG Announces Repairs for Third Mainland Bridge

Lagos State Government Collaborates with Federal Ministry to Address Third Mainland Bridge’s Deterioration
Lagos, Nigeria –
The Lagos State Government, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, has unveiled a critical plan aimed at addressing the deteriorating state of the heavily frequented Third Mainland Bridge.
Announced by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation’s Permanent Secretary, Abdulhafiz Toriola, this initiative underscores a determined resolve to tackle the bridge’s worsening condition, which is vital to the region’s transportation network.
Commencing on two consecutive Sundays, namely September 17th and 24th, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., these repair works are strategically timed to minimize disruption for motorists. Phase one of the repairs will prioritize the most crucial segments of the bridge, specifically the Iyana Oworonshoki inward Adeniji Adele/Lagos Island.
To facilitate a smooth flow of traffic during the rehabilitation process, alternative routes have been identified for commuters. Those journeying from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Alapere/Ogudu area heading towards Lagos Island will be rerouted via the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, granting access to the Eko Bridge and Lagos Island.
For drivers on Lagos Mainland, using Herbert Macaulay Road (Adekunle axis) and heading towards Lagos Island via Third Mainland Bridge, they will be directed towards Murtala Muhammed Way, leading to Carter Bridge for their onward journey to Lagos Island.
Mr. Toriola, in his statement, stressed the importance of patience and adherence to safety measures during travel on the bridge. These palliative works signify a coordinated effort to enhance transportation infrastructure, ensuring the continued safety and convenience of the public.
