ZULUM SUPPORTS ARMY UNIVERSITY

Borno Governor Allocates Funds and Facilities to Nigerian Army University in Biu
In a bid to strengthen the educational infrastructure in Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved a substantial sum of N50 million for the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB), along with the construction of staff residences and student hostels.
The university, under the ownership of the Federal Government, will benefit from these provisions.
Governor Zulum made this announcement on Friday during a visit by the Vice Chancellor of the Army University, Professor Kyari Mohammed, and his management team to the Government House in Maiduguri.
Governor Zulum stated, “The Borno State Government will allocate N50 million to the University. Insha Allah, we are committed to providing accommodations for staff as well as hostels for students. To initiate this, I am directing the Commissioner for Works and Housing to develop an architectural design for the project.”
The Governor has a history of supporting educational institutions within the state, having previously extended assistance to the University of Maiduguri, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Federal Polytechnic, Monguno, Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and other Federal Government establishments.
Furthermore, Governor Zulum directed the Ministry of Education in Borno State to prepare a list of deserving students from the three senatorial zones – Northern, Central, and Southern – who will be granted scholarships to pursue higher education at the Nigerian Army University, Biu. He also urged state-owned tertiary institutions to reintroduce convocation ceremonies, suspended due to Boko Haram insurgency, to identify outstanding students and award them scholarships for their future studies.
