Taraba State Establishes Palliatives Committee to Aid Vulnerable Citizens

In a remarkable step towards addressing the plight of the less fortunate in Taraba State, the Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Agbu Kefas has given the green light for the establishment of the Taraba State Committee on Palliatives-Care.

This significant move, executed under the legal framework of Section 1 of Executive Order No. 4 of 2023, underscores the commitment of the state government to tackle the escalating challenges faced by vulnerable segments of the population.

Heading this vital initiative is Hon. Sale Sa’ad, who assumes the role of Chairman, supported by representatives from key government ministries and influential stakeholders.

Prominent among the committee’s members are delegates from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Special Duties, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, the esteemed House of Assembly, Judiciary, Traditional Council, as well as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim Council (MC), and Labour Union.

Notably, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the State Chairperson of the National Council of Women Society (NCWS) contribute their perspectives to this dynamic team. Additionally, Chief Barr. Gebon Timothy Katapš, the esteemed Secretary to the Government of the State, lends his expertise as a committee member.

The committee’s mandate, as outlined in the comprehensive Executive Order No. 4 of 2023, is multifaceted. Its core mission is to extend vital assistance to the underprivileged members of the Taraba State community, actively working to alleviate their hardships and provide indispensable support.

The committee is poised to initiate its crucial operations in August 2023, signifying a new chapter of compassion and resilience in Taraba State’s ongoing pursuit of communal well-being.
