FUEL SUBSIDY: GOMBE LOWERS TRANSPORT FARE

Gombe State Governor Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya have taken a significant action after the removal of subsidies by lowering transport fares for Gombe Line Transport Company.

This move aims to ease the impact of the Petroleum subsidy removal on residents.

The Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, Mr. Ismaila Uba-Misilli, mentioned that measures are being put in place to alleviate transportation burdens and ensure comfort and safety for passengers.

The government has also procured 90 buses between 2019 and 2022 to enhance the company’s fleet and improve transport services. The subsidy has enabled Gombe Line to charge lower fares compared to commercial vehicle operators for the same routes.

Additionally, the state government also aims to support the people through various palliative measures.

Meanwhile, residents in Dutse, Jigawa, are calling for the revival of the state-owned “Jigawa Sunrise” transport company to improve transportation services and reduce reliance on commercial motorcycle riders.

The Gombe State Government’s actions align with the Federal Government’s directives to mitigate hardships caused by subsidy removal.
