AGRO POCKET SCHEME LAUNCHED

New Agricultural Scheme to Benefit 60,000 Farmers Across Five States

The federal government has launched a new agricultural scheme that will benefit 60,000 farmers in five states. The scheme, called the AGRO Pocket, will provide farmers with inputs such as fertilizer, herbicide, and insecticide. It will also provide training and technical support.

The AGRO Pocket scheme is being implemented under the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Programme (ATASP1).

The scheme is focused on maize, rice, and sorghum. It is expected to increase agricultural productivity and improve food security in the country.

The scheme was flagged off in Bunkure local government area of Kano State by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mahmood Abubakar. Other States included in the launch are Niger, Kebbi, Jigawa and Sokoto.

If managed well, the AGRO Pocket scheme would be a “game-changer” for Nigeria’s agricultural sector. The scheme will help to increase agricultural productivity and improve food security in the country.
